Nag Ashwin is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Telugu cinema. He is known for his work in the films Yevade Subramanyam (2011), Mahanati (2018), and Kalki 2898AD (2024).
Introduction
Ashwin was born in Hyderabad, India, in 1984. He studied filmmaking at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. After graduating from FTII, Ashwin worked as an assistant director on several Telugu films, including Arya 2 (2009) and Magadheera (2009).
Ashwin made his directorial debut with the film Yevade Subramanyam in 2011. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it won Ashwin the Filmfare Award for Best First Film – Telugu.
Ashwin’s second film, Mahanati, was released in 2018 which is a biopic of the Telugu film actress Savitri. Mahanati was a commercial success, and it make Ashwin win several awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Director.
Ashwin’s third film, Project K, is a science fiction film starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. The film is currently under production.
